What is love?

In the greek language there are three words, and yes Greeks mean what they say, and use words carefully. Many of us as a Americans sometimes do not think about what we truly are saying. As we use love, I love my dog, I hope so. Yet we use love to a husband or wife, I love you?

PHILEO

The phileo love refers to an affectionate, warm and tender platonic love. It makes you desire friendship with someone. It’s the kind of love which livens up the Agape love. Although you may have an agape love for your enemies, you may not have a phileo love for the same people. The translation of the word phileo is love in the noun – form: it is how you feel about someone. It is a committed and chosen love.

STORGE

It is a kind of family and friendship love. This is the love that parents naturally feel for their children; the love that member of the family have for each other; or the love that friends feel for each other. In some cases, this friendship love may turn into a romantic relationship, and the couple in such a relationship becomes best friends. Storge love is unconditional, accepts flaws or faults and ultimately drives you to forgive. It’s committed, sacrificial and makes you feel secure, comfortable and safe.

EROS

Eros is a passionate and intense love that arouses romantic feelings; it is the kind that often triggers “high” feelings in a new relationship and makes you say, “I love him/her”. It is simply an emotional and sexual love. Although this romantic love is important in the beginning of a new relationship, it may not last unless it moves a notch higher because it focuses more on self instead of the other person. If the person “in love” does not feel good about their relationship anymore, they will stop loving their partner.

There is really a forth,

• Agapeo, or Agape. It is uncoditional,sacrificial love. The highest form This is the selfless,self sacrificing love. You do not need to be in a romance to share this love. Most parents have , or should have this type of love. It is what Christians believe, God loves us with.

Love is more than a feeling. It is action. Love puts others before it self, that is love in its highest form.

Think the world does need love, love sweet,love, but a self scrificing pure love. Often people's love is conditional.

We would make this a better world, change would be as natural as the seasons, and businesses would be more frutful, and productive. It would benefit us all all around.

Love is also a choice. A daily choice.

Love is not always easy, especially when somone hurts you to your core. It is easy to hold resentment, butit is poison which will kill your spirit. I know I have drank that bittle, and it may first taste good but it will make you sick, as well as cost you more than your willing too pay.

The highest calling is to serve, maybe, now I think highest is to love, for if you truly love, serving will come naturally.

We are called to be servants like Jesus, but in 40-something years I am not perfect, no longer go to church, but always seek to grow.. In today’s culture, being a servant has some real negative connotations attached to it. With that in mind, what does it even mean to be a servant like Jesus? The Greatest teacher on servant-hood.

Perhaps it means giving up my own will and laying aside my rights in order to serve others, selflessly. Having a servant’s heart means to not only put other’s needs ahead of our own, but to serve with the right motivation—and that is to put God’s will first. Rewards, recognition or even gratitude cannot be the motivation to live out true servant hood, but true love for people. If I give all I have, sacrificed my body, yet have not love, I am nothing

Consider the following scripture concerning Jesus’ service:

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. [Philippians 2:5-11]

The way up is down. No I am not perfect and for years have not always been the best motivationaly. It can be hard lesson
